ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY Every number on this page is invented. Penrow Constructors is a fictional company, and nothing here was drawn from any real company's books, jobs, systems, or confidential material. It is a working sample of the WIP and job-cost work SPRCHRGR does, populated with plausible fictional data so the shape of the analysis is real even though the figures are not.

What Penrow's WIP schedule says about its profit, its cash and its next bond

1
Scorecard
2
The WIP schedule, job by job Open jobs at Sep 30, 2026 · cost-to-cost percentage of completion · over and under billings
3
Percentage-of-completion revenue Earned revenue against billings and cost, Oct 2024 to Sep 2026 · the estimate sets the revenue
Why the estimate is the most important number in the company. Under cost-to-cost percentage of completion, a job is as complete as its cost to date divided by its estimated total cost, and revenue is that share of the contract. Raise the estimate and the job is suddenly less complete, so revenue already booked comes back out. Nothing about the concrete in the ground changed. Only the forecast did.
4
Job cost fade Gross margin at bid against the current estimate, open jobs · and how finished jobs came in
5
Backlog and bonding capacity What is left to build, and whether the surety will back the next bid · surety terms are illustrative
6
Cash and billing Month-end cash against overbillings, Oct 2024 to Sep 2026 · retainage and billing cadence
7
Exit lens: what this is worth to a buyer A buyer reads the WIP before the earnings · illustrative multiple · pre-tax
Taxes are left out on purpose. Every value here is pre-tax. What an owner keeps after tax depends on deal structure, entity type and state, and that is a conversation for the owner's CPA.

What it takes to get this on your own numbers

We connect read-only to your accounting and job-cost systems, rebuild the WIP schedule from your job costs, billings and change-order log, and test every estimate to complete against its cost trend. Then we put the schedule in the form your surety, your bank and your CPA read, and refresh it after every month-end close so fade shows up while it can still be fixed. That is CFOptimize – accelerate your growth, built for contractors who are growing into their bonding line.
