Recently, we developed a data warehouse for a client specializing in creative services like branding, web & product design, and content creation. This warehouse integrates data from three essential platforms that each respectively house certain key information about the business:

  • CRM (sales pipeline)

  • Project management system (jobs, labor hours, billings)

  • QuickBooks (financials)

Previously, our client had to log into each system separately and manually compile reports, a time-consuming and error-prone process. Now, with the data warehouse, their key performance indicators (KPIs) are available in real time, all in one place, eliminating the need for manual report generation.

The real strength of this data warehouse is its ability to connect data across systems, providing a holistic business view. For example, new project opportunities managed in the CRM transition to projects in the PM system once proposals are accepted. Before, the CRM had limited visibility into project progress, and financial data in QuickBooks was not easily accessible to the other systems. This made critical financial information difficult to compile.

By integrating these systems, we've enabled real-time insights across all business areas. The CRM can now track project progress, and financial data is seamlessly linked to project and CRM data. This connectivity removes the need for manual data compilation, providing a complete financial picture.

Additionally, this integration allows for proactive business planning. Our client can input projections and tweak future forecasts based on real-time data, enhancing the accuracy and value of their planning efforts.
