Jeffrey Vautour
Accountant
Jeffery is a hands-on accounting expert who specializes in walking into messy books and walking out with clean, organized financials — building reliable reporting structures, implementing internal controls, and giving business owners the clarity they need to make confident decisions.
About Jeffrey
Jeffery is a UMass-educated accountant with over 25 years of experience spanning controllership, full-cycle accounting, financial statement preparation, budgeting, auditing, and accounting department turnarounds across more than a dozen industries. He's managed a $5.7 million federal grant at the University of Arizona, served as Controller for manufacturing, hospitality, and assisted living operations, and built accounting departments from the ground up as an independent consultant. At SPRCHRGR, he brings that breadth to every client engagement — handling full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, revenue recognition, cash tracking, and the kind of hands-on systems cleanup that transforms a company's back office from a liability into an asset.
Jeffery currently manages a diverse portfolio of SPRCHRGR clients spanning technology, defense, food service, and professional services. He leads client onboarding for new engagements, conducts regular check-in calls to discuss current business and accounting issues, prepares weekly cash flow reports, and works directly with business owners to modernize outdated accounting methods and software. He's the team member clients call when their books need more than maintenance — when they need someone who can untangle years of deferred revenue schedules, build invoicing workflows from scratch, or reconcile a chart of accounts that's grown unwieldy. His approach is methodical and proactive: diagnose the root cause, implement the fix, and design the process that prevents it from happening again.
Background
Before joining SPRCHRGR, Jeffery built a career defined by walking into accounting departments that needed serious work — and leaving them transformed. As a Senior Accountant at a regional CPA firm, he served as a hands-on accountant for multiple businesses simultaneously, preparing monthly financial statements, running weekly cash flow reports, and helping clients modernize outdated accounting processes and software. At the University of Arizona, he managed the accounting for a $5.7 million annual SNAP-ed federal grant across 13 units statewide — revamping all internal procedures, building complex Excel macros for streamlined reporting, and earning the program's first-ever positive USDA finding for accounting structure and functionality. Earlier in his career, Jeffery ran his own consulting practice in Southern California, implementing accounting, HR, POS, and inventory systems from the ground up for small and medium businesses.
His controllership experience spans industries most accountants never touch. At a $15M defense generator manufacturer, Jeffrey inherited a company with virtually no accounting policies and built the infrastructure from scratch — implementing percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, merging three ERP systems into one, creating the company's first annual budgets and 13-week cash flow forecasts, and training management through classroom-style sessions with custom handbooks. At a $1.6B food ingredient manufacturer, he recalculated $300 million in fixed assets, removed retired assets from the books, and corrected CIP accounting to align with GAAP — a net change of $150K that brought the balance sheet into compliance. At an assisted living facility, Jeffrey redesigned inventory procedures that saved $5K annually on linens and cut food costs by 10%, while recalculating five years of PTO obligations to reduce the liability by $30K. At SPRCHRGR, Jeffery has become one of the firm's most trusted hands-on accountants — the person clients and team members alike turn to when the situation requires patience, precision, and a willingness to dig into the details that others overlook.
