About Mark
Mark Wald grew up in Silicon Valley, the son of an engineer, and studied business economics at UCLA. He is an innovative problem solver who values simplicity, efficiency, and collaboration between people and organizations. He seeks to quickly understand how things work, uses readily available tools and intuitive design to implement the most efficient solutions possible, and hustles to get there first. Mark loves setting people up to succeed by sharing knowledge and best practices. As a live event presenter or guest on a podcast, he is passionate about helping business leaders unlock the value hidden in their numbers.
Mark founded SPRCHRGR in 2013 and serves as CEO but still loves doing the technical work. He’s in his happy place building forecast models and solving workflow and reporting bottlenecks. Mark is the creative visionary behind the technology platform SPRCHRGR runs on: secure ERP front end dashboards that synchronize live data across various subsystems, automating the most time consuming and error-prone mundane work while empowering knowledge workers with real-time access to insights and interactive controls that drive business forward. His rule for automation: "machines do the busywork; humans retain the judgement."
Background
Mark learned accounting through his first job in the back office of a business bank, posting journal entries, reviewing check runs and preparing regulatory reports. From there he advanced through financial planning and analysis roles across a variety of large enterprises from entertainment and digital media to automotive and telematics, implementing ERP systems, building new reporting databases, and developing workflow automation software. Mark started fractional CFO consulting in 2008, which gave him exposure to dozens more industries and business models, from cybersecurity and telecommunications to SaaS, ecommerce, and last mile logistics.
Mark’s primary motivators are to build, optimize, and share, and he often speaks to venture-backed startup and university audiences on the numbers behind growth.

Off the clock
Mark's sense of justice and moral conviction shape what he does for his family, for others and for the planet. "We're all borrowing from future generations," says Mark. "My lovely wife and I are proud parents of two incredible teenage daughters who inspire us to be the best humans we know how to be, for their benefit. As a family, we conserve, reuse, recycle, share, respect, regenerate, donate, and pay it forward. We're carbon neutral and eager to lead others by example."
